With the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s final report being released and the 2015 Canadian federal election, we wanted this issue to be an opportunity to share raw experiences of the impacts of colonialism and genocide.
We hope this may help to bring forth truth and reconciliation for the authors, whose stories they may be sharing for the first time, as well as for the reader, who may be hearing these stories for the first time.
Within this issue we are pleased to feature a submission from Pam Palmater, a well-known professor at Ryerson University and a courageous advocate of Indigenous nationhood. We are also very honoured to feature a submission from Billy-Ray Belcourt, who is the first Indigenous Rhodes Scholar.
